Mr. Peter Wells

Peter Wells has more than 30 years experience in the international oil industry in the Middle East, former Soviet Union, West Africa and Europe. He brings experience and insight to developing and implementing strategies for effective business development and negotiations in the Caspian and Middle East regions. He is an internationally respected and trusted figure who speaks regularly at international conferences on Iran, Iraq, the Middle East and strategic oil supply issues. Since 2005, he has been a consultant to Toyota, developing a unique model of world oil supply and price forecasting.
He spent 12 years with Shell International, including being Exploration Manager for eastern Nigeria, followed by 4 years with BP, where he was BP's Chief Negotiator for Azerbaijan in 1992-93 negotiating access for BP to Azerbaijan. Thereafter, he spent six years with LASMO as Managing Director for the Middle East and a member of the Executive Board. He led LASMO's successful business development effort in the Middle East including Iran. He has published on: strategic priorities in Iran's petroleum sector; comparison of service contract and production sharing models and world oil supply. He has a BSc and PhD in Geology from the University of Exeter in the UK, and held a post doctoral fellowship at the University of Oxford in the UK.
